I could go on and on about my family but suffice it to say that musicality is in my blood. I, too, am a musician in my own right. I am a singer, a pianist, a flutist, and last but not the least, a guitarist. I taught myself how to play the guitar when I was 11. I started with a chord chart. I remember that the very first song I played on the guitar was "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" by Pete Seeger. I haven't stopped playing the guitar since then. I went to a Catholic all-girls high school and I used to play the guitar during Masses to accompany our dormitory choir. I also had quite a number of public performances which are too many to mention.
I can't even believe that it's been 23 years since I learned my first guitar chord (which was C major). I remember having sore fingers, but I'd play for hours. I'd even lose track of the time. All I had then was a song book and a battered chord chart which I borrowed from a friend. An uncle even told me that it would be impossible for me to learn the guitar without a teacher. I proved him wrong. Today, my brother, my sister and I are all guitarists and nobody taught us how to play the guitar but ourselves.
